LIP SYNC UNIT
WELCOME to the glorious world of Lip Sync.
Lip sync, lip-sync, lip-synch (short for lip synchronization) is a technical term for matching lip movements with pre-recorded sung or spoken vocals that the listeners hear through speakers, either through PA system speakers in a "live" performance or television or cinema speakers in the case of a lip-synced TV show or film performance. The term can refer to any of a number of different techniques and processes, in the context of live performances and recordings.
Thanks to a wildly popular segment on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," pretend-singing contests between celebrities are now worthy enough for a TV series. Spike TV's "Lip Sync Battle" brings together some of the biggest performers in entertainment, among them Anna Kendrick, Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, Terrence Howard, and executive producers Fallon, John Krasinski and Stephen Merchant, to see who better lip-syncs songs of their choice. Helping produce epic battles, celebs are outfitted not only with microphones but props, costumes and even backup singers. LL Cool J hosts, and model Chrissy Teigen provides colourful commentary.
In this unit we will examine a range of popular celebrity Lip Sync performances and then you will work by yourself or choose a group to work with, choose a music track (which has to be approved by me your teacher) and then you will devise a Lip Sync/Movement performance for this track for performance and assessment.
