Year 10 Music video unit & film techniques
Make a music video task...
TASK: In groups of 3/4 create a music video for a chosen music track.The track you choose must have a clear storyline, no profanity, or explicit or suggestive content. Your music track must also be approved in consultation with your Teacher ;)
You must work cooperatively in groups and keep in mind the key competencies at all times. You will be reviewing yours and your group member's participation in this task at the end of the unit.
Your music video must be creative and show good storytelling skills
To make your Music Video

• Who will this appeal to?
• How can I make it appeal to this group?
• What are the lyrics saying?
• What do the music/rhythms/genre suggest?
• How can I link music/lyrics/images?
• What type of video will it be? Performance? Storyline? Dance? Mixture?

(NOTE: THIS IS AN EXTENSION TASK IF MUSIC VIDEO IS FINISHED EARLY)
Student Group Production packs:
- Each group has to create and maintain their PRODUCTION PACK - with all paperwork for this task
- Keep up with research and planning tasks
- Work done outside lessons from the start (gathering of props etc)
- Build evidence as they go along
- Must have evidence of each stage
Evaluation:
- Group and individual task – written evaluation and verbal in class
- Groups brainstorm answers and debate points in class first
- Each group plans their own approach
- Important to demonstrate development from start and a range of technologies
- Illustrate with pre-selected clips, and other imagery
- Each student in group ‘leads’ the discussion at a different point
- Students post their reflections plus any points missed out
- Give a time limit and some quiet space
- Write a formal reflective entry – evaluation – and also evaluate the other members in their group and how they all worked

Use this script example as a basis - now apply it to the video you have chosen.
