Imaginary worlds unit
The Imaginary World of... What kind if world would you like to inhabit?
This exciting unit requires you to harness your creative spirit and use your imagination to create an imaginary world using the course book by Keri Smith, "The Imaginary World of ___" as a guide. You will get your course book at the start of the unit, you must take good care of it, name it, and leave it in the Year 8 box by the whiteboard. If you take it home to work on it for homework, you MUST bring it back to the next class. There will be no spare copies.
Each of you will use your workbook invidually, working through the different creative tasks, completing drama tasks alongside both as an individual or in small groups (e.g. Role play scenes / improvisation / hot seating / character costumes / create a film trailer etc).
You will complete informal small pieces of Formative assessment (to check learning and progress and provide feedback) throughout the unit, focussing on a range of skills.
You will complete a Summative assessment at the end of the unit (to evaluate your learning). You need to take the character you've created and pair it up with other characters in your class. You must decide on a setting/location for your role-play and an appropriate plot or storyline.
You will be given the choice on what form you want this to take. E.g Short group scripted role-play (scenes), film trailer using iMovie on the iPad, a short documentary. You must make sure you included each of your devised characters that you've created in your Imaginary Worlds book.
